Lawrence John Ripple gave a note to a Bank of Labor teller on Friday in Kansas City, Kansas, demanding cash and warning he had a gun, court documents say. The teller complied with his demands and gave Ripple the money.

But Ripple did not leave- he waited for the guard to appear. He told a security guard he was the "guy he was looking for" The guard took the money back from Ripple and called police. Policemen arrived quickly and arrested the old man shortly after.

The FBI got involved. The reporters got some glimpse of Ripple's reasons; apparently he had a big argument with his wife, left their home leaving behind a note saying he would "rather be in jail than at home" and acted upon his note.
